According to reports, Liverpool have made it clear that any club looking to sign Ibrahima Konaté this summer will have to pay a transfer fee of €50 million.
It has been reported that Liverpool will not easily let Konaté leave for free. Any team hoping to acquire Konaté this summer must cough up €50 million. However, Liverpool currently faces a major dilemma:
Konaté has refused to renew his contract and has made it clear that if he leaves this summer, he will only join Real Madrid.
Real Madrid hopes to sign a new centre-back this summer, and Konaté has long been one of their transfer targets. However, given that he has only one year left on his contract with Liverpool, the Blancos
have offered only €20-25 million, resulting in a huge gap between the two parties' valuations. Therefore, based on the current situation, this transfer seems more likely to be completed in 2026.
Real Madrid's Plan A is to sign Konaté for free after his contract expires. The club believes it holds the initiative in this matter; since the player is willing to join, they can simply wait another 12 months if
Liverpool does not accept the €20-25 million offer.
Sources from Liverpool have also mentioned that the possibility of Konaté staying cannot be ruled out. Liverpool is willing to let Konaté enter the final year of his contract and try to persuade him to renew
during the season, as this approach worked with Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah this season.
However, Trent Alexander-Arnold left as a free agent after his contract expired, so this time, Liverpool is more inclined to let Konaté leave this summer, ideally with a buyer willing to pay €50 million or more.
